Themes

Because this is an action-packed television series, many of the themes fall under the umbrella of violence and crime. However, many other themes are explored in specific episodes and include the following:

Good Versus Evil
By the end of every episode, Michael Weston, symbolized as the “good” in the show, triumphs over the evils that face him, but new ones appear to lead the viewer on to the next episode.
The line between good and evil is often hazy because Weston is forced to side with evil characters to achieve his personal goals.

Justice
Is justice determined by the government or by the individual?
Weston is viewed as a vigilante and the majority of the episodes end up with justice being served. However the justice system rarely has a say in how punishment is dealt.

Individual versus Society
Explored through the relationship between Michael Weston and society. Michael is often faced against national agencies and gangs that run neighborhoods, thus creating conflict between his goals and the goals of the leaders in society.

Heroism
The city of Miami often benefits from Weston's actions, but many of them go against the morals of society, are these acts truly heroic?

Survival of the Fittest
Examined through physical fitness and mental preparedness of Weston and his crew

Ethics
Who determines who should live and who should die? Should Weston risk innocent lives to get his old job back?

Family Struggles and Relations
